Two metal molds with blue handles on wooden stands.

Development of the World Mold was based on:

The custom mold systems must be flexible enough to accommodate almost any size test specimen or family of specimens. These molds should function as an integrated system that complies with all current polymer industry standards while also being prepared for unified global standards in the near future. Additionally, the molds must be easy and safe to change by hand, including automatic-connect water lines. Customers should have the option to purchase and economically expand their system. Finally, the molds must be of the highest quality possible to ensure a long, productive life.

World Mold Development: Key Features & Benefits

    About the World Mold®

The WORLD MOLD is particularly well-suited for companies navigating the complex landscape of international trade. As the polymer industry aims to meet stringent polymer industry standards, your product must comply with ASTM, ISO, CAMPUS®, and potentially additional specifications demanded by your customers. It's reassuring to know that while managing various testing standards, custom mold systems like the WORLD MOLD from Bound, the industry leader in test specimen molds, simplify the process of producing test specimens, making it straightforward and efficient for your current and future material testing needs.

We have developed the ultimate test specimen mold system that adheres to the highest polymer industry standards. It encompasses all of our original goals and more. Each custom mold system is crafted from premium 420 stainless steel at 48-52 RC. The mirror plate and cavities feature a finish of SPI A3 diamond polish, and the ejector system is fully enclosed within each cavity plate. For safety and comfort, all mirror and cavity plates are equipped with a soft-touch handle with finger grips, while a 'T' handle allows for quick release and locking of the mold plates. The base is constructed from 4130 prehardened steel, ensuring durability. All systems are 100% tested and ready to initiate production. Your custom mold system is tailored to fit your molding machine, complete with platen mounting holes, locating rings, knock-out holes, and sprues according to your specifications.

Bound offers a complete line of standard molds ready for setup on your machine. The advantage of the WORLD MOLD is its capability to adapt to any custom configuration, making it ideal for custom mold systems. Since our inception, we have been dedicated to building custom systems tailored to your specific requirements. Let us design and create the perfect mold system that meets your needs while adhering to polymer industry standards. We won’t be satisfied until you are. Give us a call—we will put the WORLD in your grip with our test specimen molds.
